The work of IIvi Haslauser is one of the selected paintings that was auctioned from March 15th (starts at 10:00 a.m.) to March 24th (ends at 17:00 p.m.) via the online auction house Dorotheum.

Helena Ambrosch :

 Niña de las Flores

“The image represents a young girl who discovers the meaning of life from a book and blossoms through education. All the plants are from South America. They symbolize happiness and joy and independence through further development. The flowers continue to grow and blossom despite challenges.”

Anja Hentsch:

“The painting is inspired by the theme "one planet, one mankind" and the lack of equality on our planet. It depicts a newborn baby surrounded by a circle to symbolize the need for unity among humanity. The background color is various shades of red to represent both love and violence in society, while the roses symbolize love and the idea that humanity can grow and improve. The painting emphasizes the idea that all human beings deserve the same rights and should be treated with love.”

Elena Wallner:

"In the picture, there's a violin with its bow and some music sheets. There are also flowers growing from the top of the instrument. The picture is about showing how music can help people reach their full potential. Music is really special because it can change our emotions, thoughts, and actions. Personally, I find music to be very inspiring and it helps me think."

Helene Gaigg:

On Equal Footing

"I named this project "On Equal Footing" because it was really important to me to show the bravery of girls. We won't give up fighting for girls to have equal access to education, no matter how many obstacles we face. In the painting, the girl is determined and strong, and she doesn't let the man scare her."

IIvi Haslauer:

“I`ve tried to use all the themes in my painting. The flowers in black express that we humans do not care enough about our environment. Also, to represent the theme of equality I went beyond the norms. Because usually people with light skin color are depicted in paintings or illustrations, I gave a face to people who are not often seen in the media. On the topic of education, I used single letters to present the phrase "THE FUTURE IS OURS" to show the thoughts of our youth.”

Julia Hochörtler:

“My painting raises awareness about how we should treat our nature and environment. After all, we are part of the nature and environment, and with a damaged environment, life is impossible.”

Klinar Magdalena:

“The painting is about equality, development, and education. It depicts Mrs. Universe as the goddess of knowledge, floating in the universe to represent the infinity of knowledge. She has wings to symbolize her divinity, and her skin color and Indian origin are shown through her sari. Her galaxy eyes stand for the endlessness of knowledge and the old book represents knowledge. The zodiac signs in the painting symbolize the characteristics of the people.”

Meierhofer Verena:

“The artwork combines painting and sculpture to escape dullness and darkness. It reflects the theme of education leading to growth and development, as seen in the story of Gutenberg's printing and the availability of books to the public. People were able to develop themselves through books that were accessible to the public. For this reason, the work is mainly made of paper; books and newspapers. It represents a golden angel sculpture rising through books and plants.”

Nina Sarnitz:

“With this work I want to show the potential and diversity of people and how education of young girls can promote this.”

Sara Pobatschnig:

“On the theme of flourishing of human potential through education, I made a surreal drawing of a girl whose back of her head looks like a snail shell. The background consists of a galaxy, where each star belongs to a person who just got the chance of education. The snail shell symbolizes knowledge and nature. The girl was once a star who got the chance of education and absorbed this knowledge. Because of all the knowledge, her head has become an infinite snail shell where you don't know where it ends and where it begins.”

Selina Riepl:

“In this painting you can see an unknown person surrounding with a burning forest. The sky is gloomy and full of dark clouds. The burning forest represents our environment gradually vanishing, while the person in the center is surrounded by the flames, until he is also destroyed.”

Softic Arijana:

“The work represents that man and woman are on an equal footing. Even if there are differences between genders, all should be equal. The oil painting is also meant to illustrate that one should forget about gender prejudices, that's why the woman is depicted in blue (mostly considered as boy color) and the man in red (mostly considered as girl color).”

Sophie Lindner:

“I wish I lived.

I wish I learned.

I wish I grew.

I don’t know much,

but what I know, is that I didn’t want this.

I dreamt about it.

About a life somewhere else.

Somewhere beautiful.

I wonder what I could have been.

Tell me, could I have lived...?”

“With this poem and painting, I want to express the helplessness, the hopelessness and the will to be something. All this is to stimulate further thinking. Could one have prevented the sad fate of the young girl? Could she have been helped? Could she have been given a life?”

Leonie Tomaschitz:

“The world can often seem bleak and hopeless, yet education gives hope and prospects for a better future. Through education, new perspectives open up and new paths in life emerge. The potential that lies within each person can fully unfold and blossom into greatness. The future shines through the warming light of hope.”

Elena Trieb:

“There are wings in everyone, no matter the nationality, skin color, gender or sexuality, you just have to learn to unfold them. My painting represents a woman, from which two wings appear from the inside. She has learned to unfold hers, and she is now her true "self". The wings express her soul. If you don't learn to unfold your wings, you will never know how far you can fly....”

Julia Wagner:

 Learning Makes Us Blossom

The picture depicts four young girls looking at a blackboard with lessons in German and mathematics. One of the girls, Dhakiya, is facing backwards with a smiling face and the name means "the clever" or "the skillful" in African. The picture is done in a comic art style and surrounded by colorful flowers symbolizing the beauty of knowledge. The painting aims to address the issue of education for girls and women in southern countries.
